Hope this isn't taboo, since it's the off season and things are slow.

Anyone know what this is. Maybe a little bigger than a house sparrow. seems to have a little yellow on the head.

face pattern reminds me of Vesper Sparrow or Lark Sparrow, and it looks like it has white outer tail feathers, which both of those do. Leaning towards Vesper, I guess.

The amount of yellow in the strip above the eye, has me leaning towards the Savannah Sparrow:

thanks guys.. my $ is on the savannah sparrow.

Appreciate the help.. I had spent a couple hours on the cornell site and hadn't hit on the savannah yet.

Pretty sure it is a Dickcissel, based on the amount of yellow in the eyestripe and the reddish on the wings. Too much yellow for a Savannah Sparrow

female Purple Finch ? The yellow over the eye could just be the sun glare.

Look up a winter plumage Bobolink! I saw a bird very simialar to that and decided it was that.
2nd Year trying to attract martins! Wish me luck!

Savannah Sparrow; a common passerine of the grassland prairie has many diverse plumage blends. My first impression is the slender GISS of a sparrow, yellow tinged lores/supraloral, notched tail, moustache, slender bill, bold streaking on flank, all fit classic SASP.
