First Successful Season
Saw some Martins at the nest early this morning (before 6 am) but then it was really quiet and I thought our last baby had fledged this morning. Went out and did a nest check and all babies had left the nest. Sure am going to miss those guys. Hope that next year we have all 12 compartments filled with Martins. I want to thank you for all your help and answering my 'newbie' questions.

- Martin Colony History: I moved to South Florida, from Delaware, in August of 2015.
I care for a 6 condo Sunset House as well as two Deluxe Gourd Racks, with 24 Chirpynest/Excluder gourds, along a canal in Pompano Beach, Florida.
At Quiet Waters Park, nearby in Deerfield Beach, I care for a Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 TVG's. I also care for a Deluxe Gourd rack with 12 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder entrances. I am substituting 6 Chirpynest boxes for 6 of the Conley II entranced gourds in 2026.
At another local park, Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, I care for a Trendsetter 12, 5 gourds rack with 60 Excluder gourds with Modified Excluder Entrances and 1 Deluxe Gourd Rack with 12 Troyer Vertical Gourds with Starling Stoppers over the Conley II's to keep out smaller starlings.
So glad to hear all went well, Beth. It is such a great feeling when the young successfully fledge.
I know you are excited about next Spring. Martin Fever strikes again!

- Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.
Hi Beth.
They may come back this evening to sleep in the housing. Watch for them to return an hour or so before sunset.
Our last nest fledged Saturday 7/28 and still returned last night 7/31. Hopefully, you will get a few more evenings with them.
Congratulations on your first successful season and best wishes to you for many years with your colony in the future.
