We are so happy! Yesterday while doing my regular house check I heard little tiny peeps and when I opened the door I would see the top of two little heads .......... there are still two more eggs so I hope they hatched later in the day or will hatch today. Our house went up in 2010 when we had lookers, last year we must of had sub adults as there were only partial nests and then this year success. Hope they fledge successfully and that it is the start of our colony. It is very hot here right now but food is plentiful so keep your fingers crossed for us.First Ever Babies

- Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.
Congratulations, Beth. Aren't their little heads so cute? But, so tiny and fragile... I hope they grow into big strong strapping fledglings.

A good feeling, eh? 
We had our very first two PM fledglings last year and enjoyed every moment of it. It got even better this year, with five nesting pairs and several additional singles. Wow!

- Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.
