I know this is a Purple Martin Forum but how many times are you going to see a baby Green Heron?

This one must have been in a hurry to take to the air. I did call the Wild Animal Rescue and they assured me it was natural for them to be on the ground at this age and should be fine as long as there was shelter, protection from predators and the parents were feeding it. It looked very healthy to me so I took a few pictures and left it alone. Enjoy!

That's awesome - picture and sighting! I have a pair nesting somewhere in the wild lands around my pond. I was hoping to get a sight of the young but no luck so far. Your picture will hold me over for a few days! Thanks.

Great pictures, Chris. We've been fortunate to have babies fledge across the lake for two years in a row. After they get a little confidence, they come over and hang out on the dock and climb around the boat, trying to figure out how to hunt from the gunnels. Thanks for sharing.

Great pictures. Thanks for posting them as I've never seen a baby before.
