Neighbors colony booming?
I had 18 martins this year and fledged 24. They were all here a week ago and after the last baby took flight I saw less and less of them. The last few days I noticed they have joined my neighbors colony that been there for over 15 years a trio castle. They come over when they see me and my lab out walking on our acreage. What's depressing is the new neighbors that have been there for only 2 years completely ignore their wonderful colony. I ve explained to them how fortunate they are to have them and told them about the web site but afraid it fell on deaf ears. Can anyone say why my birds went there? I've had no infestation or preator attacks did nest checks regularly.

It's not unusual for them to gather at larger colonies after they've all fledged.
Next they'll all move on to a roost.
They do a lot of visiting this time of year! Keep up the good work. If the neighbors don't take care of their colony chances are you'll get them at your place in the future!
