Martins have turned unfriendly
Until now they tolerated my nest checks. Now a few more have moved into the site and suddenly I am public enemy number one when I go near the house! They seem to be emulating more group behaviour lately...perhaps its instinctive to roosting.
I didn't get dive bombed until recently at my site...it seems that they are less tolerant of me once the fledging is getting close!!!
Take Care!!

Same here! I work at home and am outside off and on all day/night long, so
they are very used to me. But I don't have to be very close at all and sometimes I get squawked at!
I assumed it's a new young SY mama and they just doesn't know better right now.
My ASY mamas never do that. But it could be subbie males, its bombing me so fast I can't be sure...but what fun!!!
However I did tell it it better not poop on me

- Martin Colony History: Currently have 4 gourd racks with 24 Bo-9/11 gourds on each. All have tunnels and porches. One Lowes martin house.
I to got dive bombed for the first time this weekend. I really didn't even get that close and I'm out there all the time. I think parkerdes has it when saying fledgings involved. I forgave them, their just doing their thing.

I have my first pair and have also noticed that they are less tolerant of me. I have four babies about 4 days away from fledging and the parents don't much like me being out in the yard. One thing that has surprised me is how that the parents seem to come from out of nowhere whenever I walk out there. They seem to be feeding high up and notice whenever someone walks out in the yard. Then they head for the nest and start fussing at me. So they are keeping an eye on things. I've been dive bombed only once so far. I'm very glad they are so protective because I can't be there to watch all the time.
