Randy

that's great. We're going to pass on banding this season at the St. Louis park and garden sites, but may do it in future seasons.

meanwhile, I have read bands on six returning subs from last year (when banded 150) and every time I'm out looking, I see more with bands but have not read...seems like a higher return than previous studies have reported.

Had never done it, but I kinda of like trying to read..it's like fishing. You stand there waiting and watching the cork -- the martin with a band -- to come into exact position and then just maybe...pull one in!

Congrats Randy. I'd like to do some banding here in SW MO in future years, but am only concerned if I would have enough time to do it considering I work a normal 40 - 60 hour work week? Maybe taking a couple days of vacation would suffice - what do you think?

John, I like your analogy!

Thanks Randy. I'll check out their site again, and contact them to see if their program supports banding in SW MO in future years.

Jeff, they'll band if they can fit you in to their schedule and if you are a landlord that does regular nest checks and keeps good records of the ages of the birds because the biggest restriction is the age of the birds. They have to be between 10 - 21 days old (due to the leg size for the bands).

They're coming here tomorrow to band over 230. Yikes! Going to be a full day!
