I take a piece of 1" pvc 4'- 5' long and tape the bare wire to the pvc then I tape the pvc/wire assembly to the pole and hook it to the supply line.
This works good on rope operated system, just keep the rope winder above the pvc
That should work most of the time. I have seen similiar setups where there are about 5 pieces of pvc, and the hot wire goes around the pole a few times near the ground.
On your pole, its highly unlikely that anything could go up the pole without grabbing around the pole and touching the hot wire.. Its simple enough.
CMF, PLEASE don't use 110v, that can kill people, animals, etc. That would be an extremely dangerous act. It is not safe to use 110v.
The electric fence charger is a low current but high voltage device designed to shock people or animals but NOT TO KILL them. It is safe to have in the yard
It's powered a par mac mark 4 low impedance electric fencer, does a very nice job. The charger hooks to regular 110 power then converts it to high voltage low amp. output with intermittent breaks.
Iv'e been shocked several times .... no harm done, no brain damage noticed
