A week or so ago I reported that I had an SY male and a female hanging around and spending the night. The ASY male left when the last cool snap hit here in the southeast and I haven't seen it since.
However, it looks like my first pair is going to be an ASY male and what appears to be an SY female. I'm having a hard time deciding on the female. They have been spending the night in one of my gourds for a week or so. This morning I saw them hauling in twigs and green leaves into the gourd. How exciting! Does this mean it's finally happening??
My first pair is building a nest!
Game on! Looks like your on your way to being a landlord. You can start doing nest checks every three to four days, checking for eggs and keeping records so you know when to expect them to hatch and fledge. Make sure you have a predator guard on your pole to keep them safe. Good luck.

I plan to do this right. Predator guard is in place. I have bird netting for a snake guard and I plan to do regular nest checks and keep records. Basically, all the things I've learned on this forum!rrmartins wrote:You can start doing nest checks every three to four days, checking for eggs and keeping records so you know when to expect them to hatch and fledge. Thanks!

With twigs and green leaves going in, you should be getting real close to getting some eggs. That would be awesome. Hoping the best for you.
