pellet recommendation for Beeman R7 Elite - .177?

Will someone please recommend some great pellets for controlling S&S? Lots of choices out there, just wondering what works best for others. Thanks in advance.

I bought crosman Ultra Magnum domed 10.5 Grain to try in my Gamo, and the wind has blown every day since so I can't even try to sight in my rifle. Also have a box of crosman hollow points.
I figured the heavier pellets might have more knock down, if I can hit the target.

Purchase a group of pellet samples, try about 10 to 20 different types, and see what fits your pellet rifle the best. There are other people that sell the pellet sample groups, the following is just some of them.

An easy pellet to find is the Crosman Premier. They are very accurate in many rifles. You'll want to test them out. Try walmart, Academy, or Dick's.

The sample pack mentioned above is a very good way to try a few quality brands at once.

A superb pellet in nearly all rifles are the "Exact" line made by JSB. You'll need to buy these online.

In my Rifle- a Gamo 440, the Crosman Premier hollowpoints are one of the most accurate I've tried and since I can buy these anywhere, I just go with them.

I have the Beeman S-1 w/ scope
I use the Predator Polymer Tip Hollow Head Hunting Pellets
you can get them at Cabelas , They are very accurate and spread out when they hit, they come in .177 or 22.

Best advice, as given by Mr. Emil, is to try several to see which is the most accurate in your particular gun. It doesn't matter too much what type of pellet you end up using. If you miss the Hosp with a hollow point but hit it with a flat head or domed pellet, that's what counts the most (the one you can hit it with). I have found that in my several rifles, the Beeman FTS (Field Target Special) is consistently more accurate.

Go to straightshooters and purchase the pellet sampler group.

thanks for the info/advice so far - any guesses on what grain pellet would be best with the R7? I'm guessing NOT the heavy sampler over at straight shooters? I want to say that I read somewhere in the 7 to 8 grain range would be best for this gun?

I have the R7 double gold and it likes the JSB exact in a medium weight somewhere around 8 grains. It is a domed pellet which they say will travel in the wind a bit more true than a hollow point.

Go to the straight shooters website and read what they have to say about air guns and pellets.

I would recommend this pellet for tight patterns needed to kill HOSP, on that so important, 1st shot.

I have yet to see a R-7 .177 that does not like to shoot JSB Exacts 8.7 gr accurately and consistently. Crossman pellets are also accurate, but they fit very tight into the bore of a Beeman barrel (the German made one, not the Chinese or Spanish made Beeman's). The R-7 is German made and made to tighter specs adn better overall quality. The Exacts are a domed pellet which give you better long distance flight trueness and deeper wound channels than any other type of pellet. And remember, you have to break a spring gun in and burn off excess manufacturing lubricants. You need to run at least 500 to 1000 shots through before it reaches its maximum potential. This gives you a chance to get use to gun and its characturistics, as well. Here is a target shot with mine, 10 shots to dime sized targets, 80 shots overall, 23 yards.

Yes, if you have a good scope, good steady hand, and you learn what your gun wants to be fed as far as pellets go. Also, you must practice, practice, and then practice some more so you have the confidence that you can make the shot. My target pictured above was shot at 23 yards or 69 feet. This gun is capable of making the shot you are describing, but so are many others. Don't buy a cheap gun, such as those sold a Walmart, Cabelas, etc. Go to a reputable air gun dealer which you can find online.

Good quality air rifles with good scopes will easily do that. One example is the Benjamin Maraude and its little brother- the Discovery. They will shot dime size groups easily at 100 feet- with good pellets and a shooter that does his part.

Sandy- those Crosman Premiers fit tight in my Gamo, and my previous rifles.

Even better is a choked barrel like premium makers use. But that's a whole 'nother topic I suppose.

What power scope would I need for my ranges???, Like a 1" scope that you would use on a deer rifle?

I'd go with at least a zoom to about 9 at the least. Do a search on a Leaper's Bug Buster. It is designed for air rifles as well as 22 rimfires. It is outstanding for shooting small birds within these ranges. It has an Adjustable Aperture (AO) enabling it to focus down to a few feet.

+1 for the Diablo Exact pellets in the Beeman R7. But those Predator Polymags look pretty cool.
