Thank you,
A guy can't better support than I do here. I have been reminding myself all day what Debbie said "gangs gota eat"
The gourd rack was all the way down this morning because of the bad weather. When I heard them outside I went out and raised it up. As I was raising it the one male swooped and soared over head until it was up, and then he was on it before I could get back in the house. The other two flew around a couple times and left. The one male stayed for about 15 minutes looking in gourds and preening, then he left. I haven't seen hide nor hair of them since. But I will be watching at dark.
Wish some luck to all that have been waiting like I have.
Woo Hoo Tony So very Excited for you & Congrat's! They will be back this evening it's so cold here today compared to yesterday. I had 8 yesterday flying around and going in houseing so cold ive not seen but 3 today.

Hey Diane
You are sooo right about the temp! When I got up Friday morning it was 70 at 5AM. It ain't been 70 all day today , and going to be 34 in the morning.
As for them returning tonight, I don't know. I'm hopeful, but I kinda got my doubts. I figure they were visiting from the small site down the road.
Tony, I am located a bit north of you. We are just over the MS/AL state line into TN.
Our martins have been *in for the night* for about a half hour now. They begin to circle the yard about 5:00 pm and then give the call to *come in for the night*.
I am not sure if yours might come in earlier or later, but you might want to consider watching just a bit earlier.
Two of the ones I saw this morning came back for a while. They are trying to figure out the cresent entrace in my alamo. I opened a few more holes after they left as the female was trying to get in some blocked with clothespins. Kinda cold and windy here all day hopefully tomorrow will be better.
I was in the yard working at 5:00 and no birds. I was at the computer for about 5 minutes and right back to the window. I never saw them.
Linda,
I noticed just this morning where you lived (I looked it up on the map) I didn't realize that you were that close. You're only a couple hours away.
I sure hope I soon see an arrival report from your area.......We are doing the best we can to fill the skies with young martins. I hope some of them find your place.
Thanks for the vote of confidence Emil.
You know people here put a lot of stock in your knowledge of martins. I sure hope your right. You know the more years you wait the further apart spring times get.
Martin Colony History: 2010 we had just one sy male all summer 2011 we had the same male come back but eventually brought home a female and had five eggs but were infertile 2012 we had our first two chicks but lost them 2013 we fledged six and had two pair 2014 we fledged 13 from four pairs 2015 we fledged 24 from 6 pairs
Hi Tony!
This years asy males are probably last years visiting sy males and will probably be your founding birds. My first returning asy scouts showed up earlier last year as well but im thinking a hawk or something got him as he was only here for a couple hours.Im all ready for this year and hopefully we will both get our first pairs
I didn't see him this morning, of course I started back to work today after a long dry spell, but I was still here until 8:30. He showed up at 8 the first 2 days, and he may have come by today, I just wasn't here.
Tim & Barry I hope you two get started this year as well. The PMCA needs to enforce a time limit on how long we have to wait for this!
