I had my first birds of the year this morning! Earliest ever. I thought I heard that familiar sound, went to the door and there were 3. At least 1 ASY male and 1 female. Couldn't tell with the other one.

Not real sure they didn't come from the elderly lady's colony down the road just to check out the Dawnsong, BUT WHO CARES!

Martin Colony History: Colony started - 2007 with one pair
As of 2018 - 84 cavities offered, max # of pairs hosted - 82.

Maybe you should offer them tea .... and CRICKETS, Tony! :lol: :lol:

Martin Colony History: 2017 Had a lot visitors no Matins nesting, hoping 2018 will be different.
2018 Had 1 pair
2019 had 30 pair

Martin Colony History: Had a colony many years ago which dwindled over a couple of years and then did not return. Kept trying each year for almost 20 years and finally had a small success in 2011 with two pairs nesting. Colony has grown slowly each year with 22 pairs in 2015. In 2016 my gourd rack of 18 gourds filled up so I added 4 more gourds and then put up a small rack of 6 gourds. All of those were claimed within a few days so I believe I have at least 25 pairs this year.

Congratulations Tony!! I hope they are your permanent residents from now on :grin:

Thanks to you all for the good wishes. It was a shock to me. I was thinking just this morning I had at least 2 weeks more to wait. My earliest arrival was 2 years ago on march 19th. Last year it was april!

That's great news. Can't think of a more deserving and patient person. Don't feel bad if they leave a while. Gang's got to eat sometime. They will come back for more looks.

Hey Gobbler, way to go man. Good luck this just may be the year.I waited for twenty years to just have one pair. After that bazinga, they really took to my place and they have really flourished the last few years.

Keep on trying and don't give up, it will finally happen.

I have my fingers crossed and feel confident that this is your year.
