I walked out my back door to go collect eggs from our chickens and my sparrow trap door was closed. Sparrow number 3 for the season so far. And its snowing! Made my day! Annie

Martin Colony History: Taking care of 11 active public colonies and trying to start two more in northwestern PA. Also attempting to restart another one in southwestern PA, in Collier Township's Hilltop Park. In 2017, not sure what happened but the ASY male returned and then a couple of weeks later he was gone. It could have been weather related. No other birds showed up. I had a starling nesting at the Public site that I had trouble getting rid of.
In 2018, we fledged 629 martins at all of the sites.

Hi Annie,

Get all of them that you can, it will make it a lot easier when the martins return to your area.

I hope this is your year to get them.

Bill

Hey to you too Bill! Thanks for the well wishes. I live in the country so I only trap about 5 sparrows and about a dozen starlings every spring. I have not seen any starlings yet, but I'm sure they will come around. I hope you have a great season this year. I'll be crossing my fingers and toes for a pair this year. Annie
