Actually, it's me that's finding their behavior mocking, since no martins remain to be mocked. Anyone else have mockingbirds driving them nuts at times, with their renditions of martin vocalizations?
Evening skies have not seen any martins here for several weeks. Nighthawks and chimney swifts continue to put on a nice show, though.

YES!!! Just yesterday evening I was refilling my hummingbird feeders when a mockingbird started up some martin vocalizations. That was rather mean I thought
but kinda cool too
I thought I saw some martins a few days ago, but wasn't positive. I haven't heard any in quite a while.

This is too funny because I was just wondering if I had some lost Martins heading south yesterday! Definitely Mockingbirds though !
Proud to be a fourth generation Purple Martin landlord.

Mockingbirds are one of my favorites. They are so cool. I have one that can do a Crow call among many other sounds. I love to listen to him late in the evening's in my Live Oak tree.

Just this morning, I was on the porch and heard what I thought was a martin, and it was a mockingbird - actually sitting on the crossbar of a gourd rack - singing away not far from a martin decoy!!!
Every day! They've got me looking toward the sky searching for a south bound martin.
Then I remember who it is, give them a dirty look, and go about my business.
