Well every thing was going great until now. I had a total of 4 ASY males but know I only have 3. I haven't seen the 4th one for about a day and a half. Unfortunately he had a mate and four eggs. I guess there is a chance he might still be here but I have my doubts. By banding I could tell you he was here last year as a SY male.
So my question is; How long will the female stay on the eggs. She just started sitting I would say on Monday. Just wondering so I would know if she could have time for renest.

- Martin Colony History: The 1972 St. Agnes flood wiped out all the Martins in my area. One day, in 1997-98, 5 or 6 Martins landed on the power wires crossing my back yard. I had no house for them. They kept coming back day after day. We got a martin house a few weeks later & they have been coming back every year since. I average 12-15 pair per year.
She may find a new mate. I had one last year that just hatched chicks & her mate got killed by a hawk. In 2 days she accepted a SY male & he took over feeding.
You never know what they'll do. She may abandon her eggs & leave. She may look for a new mate. A new mate may or may not accept her eggs.
