This is my first year doing Project Martinwatch. I have a few questions. Can I just start my data from when my pair first laid their first egg? I didn't know you start to record data when they start to build nests. Also I'm I supposed to record data even for compartments that are empty or have HOSP in them? Thanks.

Landon,

You can start with date first egg is laid in first nest - but then keep all your checks in sync. you can list data for empty comps and HOSP nests too, but don't have to.

main thing is to check nests weekly, all season long, until young fledge. if you use pmca baby photos to age young on first check after hatch, it's helpful to include note somewhere that you did that. thanks for being a PMW participant

Thanks Louise. I do have one more question. On the electronic martinwatch data one of the colums says enter date of nest check here. Do I enter the date and the contains of the nest in that column?

Thanks.

Greetings,
That section is actually two cells.
If you click in the bottom of that section, it will highlight and you can put the date in there.
It took me forever to find that cell as it is the same color as the upper part with the words in it.
Maybe they could change the color of that section for next year to make it easier for folks to use.

I supported 250 PC users in a DOD environment and am all about ease of use.
Cheers,
Joe
