New House

My Dad built a new house this year and has many couples busy building their nests. All kinds of things have been brought to the house some not so good, like a piece of plastic bottle. The female tried and tried to get it in the house but was unable to get it to fit in the hole.

This is a picture of the House that was built by my Dad. It has ventilation for each room and also each room can be removed separately for cleaning.

I now have 5 gourd racks, offer 66 Gourds, and average 50 pair a year.

- Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

I also have a carpenter dad. Aren't dads the best? My dad builds small furniture (kids) and toys in his retirement and mom does an extensive line of regular and diabetic jellies. He travels a craft show circuit and that is how they make their living now. He is in his seventies and pushes himself through the fatigue and pain of setting up the show tent, etc... I often tease this little retirement job is ten times more physical than his job all those years before (insurance adjuster).
It's time I take some pictures and specifications to dad and angle for a perfect Christmas gift!!

Deb A, wow... my dad is in his seventies and has had rheumatoid arthritis for 40 some years. Wood working projects have always kept him active and also a hobby. My dad doesn't do craft shows, I am his sales rep haha. He uses no patterns just draws them on his own. Does do projects upon request. He has such a nice colony of birds this year. They are wonderful to watch and of course listen to. Thanks for the nice comment about the house I will tell him.
