This is our set up....We are the only ones in the area that offer Clinger and SREH openings for the Martins...

Still hoping for our first pair. I have been getting up at 5am to play the Dawnsong with no luck yet. There is a colony about 1/2 block away that by all rights shouldn't even have any. His houses are right next to trees. Go figure!

Well, I guess we just have to keep praying for a first pair to come. This is only our 2nd year trying so I guess we need to be patient.

Brian did build a trap house which we have been successful in catching some Starlings....and one HOSP. I did get to watch a couple times a Starling tryin to get into the T-14 with no success. Now that was funny!

Well, Good Luck to all those who are still trying for their first pair as we are not giving up either.

And for those that are wondering Brian built the T-14 as well. I don't know if anyone remembers me saying that I was gonna buy a table saw to keep him busy...well, I did and he's already built another T-14...lol

Now we just need Martins and we wil be ready for them...lol

You two have a really nice set up, I bet it want be very long till you get
your start in martins and when you do i bet your colony will grow super
fast, just keep the starlings & HOSP"s out of your set up. Brian sure did
a great job on his wood projects. Hope you two have a great martin
season...Good luck, :)

The martins at your neighbors house might well be nesting there out of necessity. It is possible that the trees were small when martins first started nesting there and have now grown. Martins love to nest amongst other martins so getting the first pair is the hardest. Once you get some I wouldn't be surprised if you don't start drawing more and more of your neighbors martins to your site. I know several members on here who have "taken" their neighbors martins because the neighbors don't manage their sites like we do. You definitely have good quality housing.

Yes I would have to say Brian did an awesome job...he's gettin the building down to a science now....lol...he wants to keep building them...I told him once we get some PM's then we can put up another T-14...or Gourds if thats what they prefer...

I really enjoy going to the couple places in town when the Martins are by their houses to watch them...just wish it was from my own backyard...

I really wouldnt want to steal my neighbors Martins away...but if his young need a place we have the right stuff for them...lol

I think Brians next project of building is gonna be one of Bob B's houses. He bought the plans, now its just a matter of getting the materials...

So PM's hurry up and get here....we are waiting for you!!!!!

Val,

You are so lucky to have your husband build these houses for you. They look fabulous. I hope you are able to get martins soon.

I have to build my own houses. I'm getting pretty good with saws and do not have a problem building birdhouses or martin houses. But I'm not sure I can handle the intricacies of the inner working mechanism needed for the starling/sparrow trap. I printed off instructions from a website but have been dragging my feet with procrastination due to my concerns of not figuring it out.

Very nice setup Val...
