Woa! Did I just see that?
I have had a SY pair hanging out over a week. I have 8 gourds...4 with round holes...4 with sreh...The whole time they have been here I have never seen them enter the sreh. Well that changed this evening as I watched the female who is noticeably smaller try several times to enter the sreh. She finally wiggled her way in..and I'm thinking there is no way that fat male will be able to wiggle his tuchie in that sreh.. Well what do you know? When he saw his gal get inside, he went inside like a greased bannana..
Stop in and stay awhile....

That's great! If they end up choosing a round hole gourd and lay eggs, you could change it to SREH to keep them safe from starlings, if you have the type of gourds that switch out entrances easily.
I have all SREH at my house. There are lots of folks that start colonies that way. There are a lot of starlings around here and I don't want to give them any encouragement.
Last year when I had that ASY male for a few days, I watched him glide in and out that crescent hole, and he showed a female how to do it, too. I know they can do it now, it's just a matter of wanting to.
