New T14 Turning On Pole

Just got my T14 mounted on my round sch 80 pole. Problem is, it turns clockwise when I lower it. Any idea what would cause this?

Not sure why it would twist when lowering. The important thing is that it will stay straight while at the top. I am assuming the wind wasn't real strong while it was twisting? Mine will twist a little if there is much wind. Bu when it is tight at the top the cable in the pulley will not allow it to twist. Assuming you have a setup with a pulley at the top of your pole.

Its a little brezzy. So I need to raise it till it touches the pully at the top so the boxes will stay heading in the right direction, did not think of that. Thanks alot.

The lower screw on one of the big boxes went through and is rubbing the pole. I built the same house and frame like on Chuck's page, and you put one screw in the middle of the bottom boxes, easy fix, thanks again.

You don't have to raise it up until it touches the pulley. It is hard to explain but the closer the house is to the pulley the less it can twist. When it is up high and tries to spin the the cable will push against the inside of the pulley and it can't move much. The lower it gets the more play there is in the cable and the more it can spin. I am not the best at describing this. I usually leave my house about 8 inches or so from the pulley and it doesn't move when it is up. I use a sharpy and mark the cable at the winch when I have it where I want it so I know when it is at the right height.

Without seeing your "hazer" I can't tell for sure but you could try adding an eye screw or something similar on the side of the hazer opposite the side on which your cable is attached. You'll have to remove the cable and run it through that eye and back over the pulley. The tension of the cable should keep your house from spinning. I am in the process of making a gourd rack for a round pole I had in my barn and have been thinking about this way too much lately.

Grady I was going to build a gourd rack similar to the super system 24 using a round pole. I was having a hard time finding a pipe as the price of steel has skyrocketed over the last couple years. On my T14 the cable goes up through one side of the carrier and then comes down through the other side and secures at the bottom.

A hazer is a term used in rodeos. The hazer is the cowboy that guides the steer into the right direction for steer wrestling.

In martin houses, a hazer is a roller, usually put in a place where a heavy house rubs the pole. It makes the house raise much easier. The house no longer rubs, the wheel turns instead.

A hazer for a house can be made with a bolt, and slip a piece of pvc over the bolt. Mount it in the correct place where the house rubs, the pvc pipe turns on the bolt. My hazers were about 1/2in wider than the pole, mounted on the bottom of the house.

+2 on what Emil described. Some people call the entire wooden carrier that the T14 bolts to the hazer.
