Has anyone tried this product "Serpent Guard"? I don't like snakes, and we have a lot of coral snakes around here. I am interested in the following product but wondered if it actually works. Maybe it would keep the rat snakes out of the bird nests and martin housing if regularly applied???

Hello Emil, I was wondering about 'moth balls'. I have heard all my life that snakes cannot stand the smell of moth balls...

The spray said it had a 100% guarantee. I live in the city and snakes are not a major problem, although we did find a small oak snake in our front yard. But that is the first snake I have seen in our neighborhood for the last 20 years.

Moth balls.... that may do the trick. If someone has problems with a lot of snakes I would love for them to try the moth balls. My only fear is the martins my decide those balls stink too much to live around.

Persistence is not necessarily the key to success, but can be likened to the proverbial sand that brings forth a precious pearl.

I have heard it both ways on moth balls, some people say it works, others said they tried it and it doesn't work...Also, it would take a lot of mothballs to put them around our house and sheds, shrubbery, flowers, etc.

Hi all. I have been dealing with snakes for more than 30 years - both in captivity and the wild. I have frequently been asked about different products that may work to keep snakes out of houses, chicken coops etc. I have NEVER come across one that really works. Everything that I have experienced indicates that moth balls don't work and a product called Snake Away doesn't work. I can't say that I have even heard of Serpent Guard. Snakes do have a very good sense of smell so maybe it will work. I now recommend the bird netting that I learned about here on the PM forum! Good luck and please let me know if it works. I frequenty get calls about what to use.

Thanks, Grady, I was thinking that it probably will not work. Furthermore, its really expensive. Since I read your answer, I decided not to purchase it. Thanks, you most likely saved us some money...

This rat snake was not a bit shy. I saw several of them in the yard this year. Fortunately, none ever found a way around my predator guards.
