Hi Everyone,

We decided to take some pics of our 'last' nest of baby birds - we have 4 left; we took these pics about a week or so. The birds are about ready to fledge any day now; kinda sad to see them leave however happy, too; it has been a GREAT season this year. It went by so quick; as it always does....I was wondering if the SY parents would be 'good parents' to the 4 baby birds and they were Excellent parents.

Attaching a couple of pics for ya'll enjoyment.

Wonderful photos Sheryle!

I love the first photo. When the babies press against the back of the compartments, and get real still, it's like their thinking "okay....if I sit here really really still, they won't notice me....."

Hi Matt,

Thanks!!! Your right, the first picture is so funny; the bird is probably thinking okay don't make one move; not one and I will not get notice...LOL. What happen though is we took the baby bird out of the house and took pictures and when it was done we put the baby bird back in the house and 'he' ran all the way back in the corner...so I took a pic of the bird like that. 'He' was upset by then...LOL.

They will be gone today or tomorrow; we are almost done with our season of Purple Martins. Bummer however I don't have to worry about them which I did for awhile cuz of that darn Owl we had in the beginning however the OWL never came back...Thank Goodness.

Hi Shannon,

I think our last Purple Martin 'babies' fledge today:(((( It is going to be sooo quiet very fast. I hate how quiet it gets after they leave; it takes awhile to get use to how still and quiet it gets..the sadness sets in...another season gone. That is the drawback of having Purple Martins - they seem to come and go quickly or maybe it is just 'ME'; I want them to stay longer. It was such a GREAT year that I wanted it to continue a little bit longer. Oh well, that is what being a Landlord is all about; doing the BEST for your Purple Martins and knowing that you did your part for the Purple Martins.....we did our part in contributing to the Population of Purple Martins..and for that I am very happy:))))
