Since most of the young have fledged in the South what do they do? Just hang around until the birds form the North are ready to roost to fly South? I have 6 to 10 just around during the day but do not go into any cavities. All my young have fledged at least 2 to 4 weeks ago. These may or may not be some of the pairs/young I had here at the start of nesting.

Martins in the deep south surely are already forming pre-migratory roosts, but the birds may continue to visit the housing during the morning hours. It's my understanding that these roosts are contantly in flux as far as who's there, some southern birds moving on to South America while others are arriving from points north. Some roosts fade and then reform as the season progresses -- so I read here.
