Great looking setup and beautiful pictures.

Glad to see some young guys doing nest checks...is one of those fellows you? Maybe it's your sons.

People at public sites often ask me whether nest checks bother the martins. I always say that if these were mocking birds I'd be scared, but that lowering the rack only bothers the martins a little...that they are mostly tolerant and we try not to keep the rack down long.

Keep up your good work.

EXCELLENT pictures! You have a great site and it looks like the little darlings are in great health. Your martins sure build really beautiful nests.

Thanks Kathy and John.

John that is my son and i. My colony is at a public site as well. I try and do regular nest checks, and have been asked the same question. They tolerate it well, but let me know when my time is up !! This female in the one picture and i have met 3-4 different times this year, she certainly doesn't mind my company. Thanks for your replies and best of luck !!
