As my colony has grown things happen earlier and faster,I already have my first babies for the year and they arrived on June 1st.So far things are going great as I have 43 pair and another 185 eggs to go.I sure hope the weather is better this year than last year, some of you might remember the cold weather we had at the beginning of July and again the second to third week also when we lost lots of 5 to 15 day old youngsters.Lets hope we don't have a repeat of that again. The Horicon Nature Center is also doing well with 34 pair and 160 eggs so far.Tony

Martin Colony History: Colony started in 2009 with 2 pair.
Currently I have 3 gourd racks with 24 gourds. One gourd rack will be for sy arrivals only.
Bo Eleven gourds 20

Good for you Tony. I have a little over a week to go for my first eggs to hatch. Yes, I remember last year. I had 2 pair and the pair that started my colony are the ones that lost all of their babies. I am definitely hoping this year is much better. I sure hope everyone else is doing better also. I still have not seen a sy male this year. Maybe that is a good thing. I have an asy male still without a mate.

Tony, thats great news that everything is going well this year! It's also good to know that your keeping up with The Horican Nature Center also.
This past week I have been seeing some martins, and yesterday a ASY pair going in and checking out the house. Have not seen them today at all.
I have a friend that I showed a photo of your site to , he replaced his old unused martin house with a T14 and was able to get 2 pair this spring!!
We''ll see if his wife still talks to me by mid summer, she seems ok with it so far??
