You are very correct about many other things in life. Most of us spend a great deal of time chasing illusions that are not real and can never be real.
If I get a hundred pairs of martins that will completely satisfy me...but it doesn't. If I can become a millionaire, etc., etc just pencil in about whatever you are chasing. In the final analysis it comes down to family, friends and God. Everything else is just stuff. Some of our stuff is of greater importance and benefit than is other parts of our stuff, but stuff is still stuff and stuff never really make us happy. When the things that really matter are placed at the top of our list, we suddenly start to find IT that satisfies our longings.

There are the dream chasers and they often become very good at what they do but just as often become bitterly disappointed as things unfold for them....an example might be Tiger Woods.

There are also the blessing counters. They tend to be satisfied and happy but often lack the inner drive to become all they are capable of becoming.

And there are those who mix the two life outlooks together like a great chef combines many ingredients and cooks it just right to create something wonderful.

I believe there is room for purple martins in the life of anyone who has an interest in them. When properly mixed with other interests, job, duty, faith, family and friends and cooked just right they can be a small ingredient in a beautiful life.

But enough of my rattling on. Thanks everyone for reading, commenting and saying nice things.
