Well I have bad news to announce my colony is no more.I had 3 birds for awhile but no longer.I think I will lower the houses for a month or so until other birds are hatched and try to start over.I cannot believe it but I guess that's reality.I have had a colony since 1995 with some years as many as 10 pairs.Oh well I hope your colonies are flourishing. By the way don't take them for granted you never know what might happen.

Where are you located? Do you think it's too late to wait for any late-season SYs?
Never give up hope. Is your house/gourds easy to protect from starlings and house sparrows? If so, it wouldn't hurt to leave it up, "just in case". Leave it up, close off the holes you can't see. and put a trap in one of the holes you can see.
Also, you will want to have it open and looking inviting for the late summer migration back to Brazil. You'll get all sorts of "lookers" wanting to see what's available.
I had literally hundreds of migrating visitors and their fledges last fall. It was awe-inspring.
Now, if some of them would bother to stop by on their way north!
