T-14 Vs Gourds #2
Landlords, I am very happy to report that more have taken to the T-14, but will be watching later just as they come in for the night. Note picture of T-14 with martins taking apartments, also of the gourd martins watching whats going on. Also a picture of my Martin village. I have notices in the evening about 20 to 30 martins flying over going southeast or maybe they checking out my place. Happy Martin to all.

Hi Gutart,
I notice that your T-14 compartments are shallower than the plans indicate. Martins like deeper cavities if available that might explain some of the initial reluctance to your T-14's. Since the cavities are shallower, it might be wise to put on owl guards for extra safety.

- You can see that the owl guards I use are just wooden dowels attached to the fronts of the porches on the T-14. Simple and effective in keeping large owls from reaching in and grabbing martins or chicks off the nest.

Hello, James you right about the compartments aren't deep. I did build T-14 per plans but found that the starling liked them as well. These I build smaller, I have had luck with the size before I got the gourds. What do you think should I put owl guards on these T-14 as for as I know I have no problems with owls. Happy Martin
I would put the owl guards on. By the time you realize that you have an owl problem, it will be too late. They could easily take several birds before you know it. Since they only come by at night, most likely you wouldn't see them and then you would start to notice wings and clumps of feathers scattered around the lawn.
