Worked for me, but then went to a condition of continuous scrolling on trying to add a friend. Couldn't get it to work. I'm not a computer guru so proud of what I did get. Could use an alphabetized list.
Thanks, anyway.

I went back to the google maps page to check and see how many new pin drops there were after successfully entering my info, and my information in White Pine, TN has been replaced with info from someone in Huntsville, Alabama. I'm not that smart, but I can see my house and I'm certain its not in Alabama! What's up with that? Too bad. I guess the information you enter is not locked down or protected. :-(

Alright. Just changed back my info. Leave my pin drop alone, Huntsville! :)
I'm assuming somebody just clicked on the map while it was zoomed out, got a general location they thought was appropriate found a pin and put in their info. Don't make me get Steve Jobs on yall cause I will. To those who are new to this ZOOM, and drop your OWN pin. YOu can zoom up to street level in most if not all places and put it as precisely as you want it. Well, hopefully more precise than the poor guy who stole mine.

Google guy, is there some way you can lock down the info from being edited? Like in wikipedia?

No harm done, but I won't be babysitting my info after this.

I love it. Thanks Hugh. I hope everyone enters their colony information. This is a great tool.
I entered my home colony and the public sites I manage.
I manage 2 public sites, and one at home, for a total of 172 cavities. Board Member / Non Profit PMCA.

New houses are up, need to add nest material yet, still snow on ground, birds due March 25 as previous years. Will go to the city for crickets next week.

Martin Colony History: Colony started - 2007 with one pair
As of 2018 - 84 cavities offered, max # of pairs hosted - 82.

HEY, TEXAS and LOUISIANA landlords - where are your markers on the map!!??? We know you're down there, so quit trying to hide!

And just FYI to everyone - you can have some fun with the "pins" / "markers" and make yours a different color than the default blue.

Martin Colony History: First pair in 2009 after 28 years of trying. 3 pairs 2010, 17 pairs 2011 and 35-45 pairs since. Many additional colonies are now springing up around mine in an area once completely void of Martins. I offer 50 compartments at my site consisting of primarily Excluder II gourds on Gemini racks. Also a wooden T-14. I utilize electric fence type predator guards on the base of the poles. Supplemental feeding is crucial in maintaining my colony. I platform feed throughout the season as needed. My site tends to be a stop over point for additional birds as they migrate further north.

Got mine posted.

Just bringing it back to the top again for someone else.
Supplemental feeding plays a major role in Western Pennsylvania. Finally got my 1st pair in 2009 after 28 years of effort. The colony has grown quickly to 45 pairs that I care for. Many new colonies have now sprung up around me in the past few years as well. Where there was none.... there is many.

Great idea! We're on the map too. No problems once signed in to Gmail. Hope to find locations of other colonies or "wannabees" nearby.
There is no greater thrill than interacting with nature. Fledged 144 in 2014.

Greetings,
Got my location on there.
I put the pointer right between my two martin gourd racks.
If you switch to satellite view and zoom in you can actually see the two racks.
Cheers,
Joe

The Google sit in Louisiana and most of Mississippi must not have the edit button. I have tried to find an edit button and there is not one anywhere. Look at the maps. I can not believe no one in the above states do not want to enter their information.

Wow I did the satellite map and put the marker right into our roundabout. When you zoom into our area you can see how deeply wooded we are but very close to a lake. We didn't get any birds the first 2 years but hope our 2 pair come back with more fledglings. So they do come into wooden areas.

YOU HAVE TO "SIGN UP" FOR GOOGLE IN THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER IN ORDER TO GET THE MAP WITH THE EDIT BUTTON. Took me awhile to figure it out!
