size=18]I have seen no birds yet, after 10 years of scouts here by first week in March. It would be interesting to find out the effects of the harsh conditions last year. I lost many chicks to the heat from jumping, and abandonment. Still, the hardier erarly ASYs were successful early last season; the SYs took the brunt of the heat in my colony later in the season. Here's hoping for better this year.
I enjoy reading about the thrills of new landlords. The longer I wait, the more apprehensive I feel but the old thrill of a colony will be all the sweeter when the PMs arrive.
If they do.............
After last year......

Same here...I have been a PM Landlord off and on for about 10 years. This is the latest that I have seen them arrive in my area. As of today still nothing.

Nada, zippo, nothing yet in Round Rock. They are really late this year.
I am not seeing much in the way of dragon flies either. My theory is that the PMs are not going to arrive until there is enough flying food stock to support them.

I had seen a few feeding high over head before today. We lowered the house earlier today before the storm went through. As soon as my husband raised the houses this evening we had a flyby. Then about 6:20 one landed and tucked in for the night. One other tried for a compartment with a decoy, seemed confused and took off (darn). So keep your eye to the sky!!
I looked at your profile, you have many compartments for a suburban lot, do any of your neighbors ever complain? We are never sure how far we can push it. We have two poles with a converted Trio and a Lonestar Alamo.

I finally saw 2 martins on my houses today, almost a full month later than last year. I'm not sure how many will come but I would suspect more will be on the way with temps in the mid 70s this week. So metroplex landlords, eyes to the skies.

I'm anxiously & fretfully waiting here west of DFW for my 2 successful pair to return from 2009...I'm getting pretty discouraged but the winds are still out of the North for the next 10 days...what's going on with our weather??? I would think the migration is slowed because they are all fighting northerly head winds!
Here's hoping & praying they will return when the temps are warmer & there is plenty of food in the area!!!
