Does anyone have a picture of an old, sparrow-infested, bent pole, doors falling off metal house picture??

Nanette, search on Scully - he had loads of photos of the sparrow infested houses he's surveying in San Antonio

Nanette, I took the liberty of finding a few of Mike Scully's threads, that have many photos he's taken of unkept housing.

Here are a few:

And in the following thread, there's a photo of a doorless, Trio Castle, serving as a sparrow hotel.
It's towards the bottom of the thread:

Mike's photos probably are better.

Here's one I took just this morning at a small golf course in Illinois..a few miles from Cahokia Mounds where we have erected a nice gourd rack.

Nanette, If you want the original, email me by PM. This house actually does host martins. I talked to manager of the golf course last season...but got no where.

This house went up in the 70s I think...motivated by mosquito control. I think many of these old Trio houses still host martins, but there's a closing window, I feel, to get them replaced. Otherwise, the martin population will drop.

Hi John,

Do you have a full picture of it? Does it have a predator guard? I need a vertical picture which exemplifies "What not to do".

Nanette

I'll look through my files and send you a PM, with my regular email. We can only post and email photos of limited resolution here.

How about an old wood house? This one has sat on the shoreline of one of our town's lakes for well over 45 years. Can see straight through it in parts. Sparrow slum, yet unbelievably it still hosts martins.
