Just when I thought everything was going great. On April 25 a ASY male pick a gourd under a T 14 to call home. It took him about 3 weeks to get a female to stay with him. With a bird cam in the gourd , she laid her first egg on May 29. On the 30 she sat on the nest about 30 min. in the morning, but no egg. The same thing happened on the next day and that night she never came in . The ASY male spent 2 more nights, then left also. There is some good news , after the ASY male left a SY male has been hanging around off and on through out the day. He still has not spent the night, but he has been able to lure a female into flying over the house.

Rick,
Sorry to hear about your loss. Hang in there, there are many highs and lows in your quest to become a landlord, most if not all of us have gone through them.
In 2005 I had 4 pair of SY's, 3pair in my T-14 and 1 pair in a super gourd. Egg laying had already started and the martins seemed to be comfortable with there new homes. When without warning the 3 pair in the T-14 abandoned there nests, eggs and all. The pair in the super gourd stayed and had a successful season. To this day, it still haunts me as to what caused these birds to leave, I would guess there might have been an owl that paid a visit.
So just knowing that your site was attractive enough to attract ASY's is a positive sign.
