Dove decoys
I stopped into Cabelas the other day and found a 4 pack of these in their clearance room. One of them had it's clip off because of a missing rivet, which I just replaced with a screw. They aren't painted quite right, but I bet any hawk looking for a bird will try to snatch this big juicy looking one 1st. I'll let you know if they work. They will attach to anything up to 3/4" thick with an alligator clip, so they are real easy to reposition.

Now why didn't I think of that? I have several of those, but luckily, no hawk attacks yet.
Several dove hunters I know have said that the mojo dove (spinning wing decoy)is a hawk magnet. They have reported hawks will attack the decoy while it is spinning. Might be a thought for severe cases, turn on the decoy to grab the hawk's attention well away from the martins.

I ordered the 4 pk Dove Decoys from Cabellas and have found I have not had a hit since. Seems the Martin decoy on the garage has been hit and 1 Dove Decoy on the other side of the yard on the bird feeders. But lately it seems as the hawk goes by he sees the Martin decoy and then sees the Dove's and when he hesitates it's too late, the Grackles and the Martins are after him. Hopefully it stays this way. Thanks for the suggestion Tony. $11.99 for 4 + $5 shipping was well worth it.
