Wife and I spending our Bush rebate in Lake Tahoe and were eating our last romantic dinner at the restaurant on the 18th floor of Harrah's Resort Hotel(Fridays Station) 2 evenings ago and could not believe what we were seeing besides the beautiful view of the Lake Tahoe sunset.
There were probably close to 25 Purple Martins flying between the tall buildings in downtown South Lake Tahoe.
We had no idea at all that there were Martins established in Nevada.
The migration maps show Sacramento Calf. as a Martin site but nothing in Nevada that we could find.
Are there any Martin landlords in Nevada ?
Monday morning the temps there were below freezing in South Lake Tahoe and from what we could tell, higher elevations were colder still.
Snow was still everywhere going through the various passes when we were sighting seeing and hiking.
The Martins did add to the mood and we were so excited when we spotted them flying. How great to see Martins when you do not expect too !!!

I would think so: I never heard of them in that area...but then again, I am not an expert. You probably had a very rare and special experience

Martins and my favorite 'ole Stompin' Ground. Sounds like you are having a great experience. Maybe the martins took a break from Sacramento and headed up Hwy. 50 for a little gambling.
I'm a "nestcamaholic" Is 18 hours a day a bad thing? (I have 2 this year, luckily I have 2 eyes!)

Doesn't Harrah's building rest on the state line ?

Maybe the birds were still in California.
