The Martin house my wife and I made this spring has been a big hit with the Martins. While the picture shows a big canopy of trees in the back ground, the opposite view is open and on a lake.
We have had our share of hawks this spring but haven't had any problems with them for at least 2 weeks now. Hopefully they have migrated somewhere else. The Martins have returned to a relaxed state and spend allot of time on their houses and building nests.
Last nest check revealed that one nest has 6 eggs. So I guess one group of babies is going to be way ahead of everybody else.
I also wanted to say "Thank You" to the ones I've asked questions of on the Forum. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Looks like a full house to me! Are you able to lower that style house you built? Looks great, I also like to try and make some of my stuff, makes it that much more rewarding. Great job to both of you!

I agree, it is a beautiful house but I have 2 questions, I don't see how you can lower it easily, it looks like a heavy house and I don't see any cable for a winch. Also, how does it open for nest checks. Thanks in advance for your answer.
All of my equipment is home made. Sure is a great feeling to see all those little dawlings taking up residence each spring!
I have another one going up at my son's home in the Jackson, MS area Saturday. This one is build along the lines of the T-xx models. Only 8 compartments, each 7 x 10". I have not weighed it yet, but should go about 26-28 lbs. Very lightweight totally Cedar construction.
Good job on your construction and the swiftness of the martin to claim their respective territories!
