Craig, I have no clue on what is going on down here. The weather is not the problem, because we have had great weather. Their were a few days of cold but it left. It maybe that we have had high pressure system over us most of the time and the martins have to fly into the wind, which can slow them down. I think this weekend there will be a lot more postings.

:-( With a lot of people moving away from Florida I'm wondering if martin are coming to the old homes and finding them without houses. If it is around here I will be more than glad to take them to my house. This maybe why the reports maybe down in my area.

That last cold front that made flurries in Daytona Beach went farther south than I have ever seen. It went past Cuba and south of Texas down deep into Mexico. It went so far south into Mexico, it caused upwelling of the ocean on the Pacific side of Central America and made sea surface temperatures in the mid 60's. Look at weatherunderground.com at the sea temperature map and look at the cooler water still there.

We know that the weather does play a big part in the migration. I'm sure that it held them up a little. It only effected us for two day and the temps were back to there regular temps after that. With ocean temps being down and the martins fly very high I wonder if it did bother them coming across the Gulf.

:-( Well we had another scout arrive north of me. I can not understand why they are north of me and I have not seen any flying around my house. My fever is driving me crazy.

James im wondering the same thing, i have ideal conditions for Martins around here. A very large lake or a series of them, open landscapes 2 colonies about 1 mile to 2 miles from me. I drive by these colonies and they are empty, i look up in the sky and i don't see a single martin around my area only that sighting of 2 ASY moving west about 13 miles from home. How weird is all this?

Hmm i like Texas better, just takes 20 more days for the martins to get there. Besides you have BBs and much more variety of birds. You will soon have your birds :)

:-( Jp I have the same feelings as you. I can't wait to get home and just look out into an empty sky. Hopefully soon we will have them around us and we can stop worrying about were they are.

Good thing I've got'a'ways to go before they get here. I'm going in tomorrow for repair of two hernias, and I was itching to get started on some new horizontals with tunnels. Hopefully I'll get back to them next week with plenty of time to spare

 Another one hit the coast and it is near me this time. I think this weekend we here in south florida will get a lot of birds coming in. The winds are from the south and that will help the martins into our area.
