Year not over quick enough

No Martins this year at all. Will wait until next year to see if they return.

Me too! Had a colony for going on 18 years. 3 boxes that haven't changed. Same amount of sparrows and starlings. No blue jays. I spotted 2 martins earlier that moved on that I suspect were on their way north. River frontage and a pond in the rear (a martin paradise). As of today . . . .nothing. Humm...

No martins

OK, here's my theory on why no martins here. By the way, the hummingbirds we had have left too. Because of the cold nights, there aren't many mosquitoes, and since martins need them to survive ( and they need a bunch ) the martins haven't arrived. They will arrive when they are abundant. I hope. . ....

Well, none here yet. I saw yesterday a few at some locations in West Point, but still most colonies empty.

Tye, I'm thinking the same thing about something happened in their winter home or maybe while in flight to that home.
Too many folks experiencing the same thing.

Here it is 5/14 and no martins. Hard to believe an established colony has gone. :roll:

Live here in central Virginia and this is the latest we've ever waited for our Martins. Saw a martin land on a box about a week ago and he has left and that's it. All around me is the same. I go to West Point, Virginia frequently and none there either ( about 20 miles SE of me). We've had humming bi...
