Re: using CDs
I don't use the CD, but I bought a blue tooth speaker, paired it with my laptop. I play the daytime chatter on youtube. I set it next to my gourd racks and have had several lookers now. Had a pair yesterday that stayed all day going in & out of one gourd. We've had rain all day today, but when i...

Yes you can. The martins will take to it easily.

Re: Moving - What To Do With Housing
I would take some housing and leave some housing if the new owner will agree to take care of the martins. That being said, we moved 3 years ago to a house 4 miles away from my previous location where I had 56 pair. Moved 4 miles....and still have not had a nesting pair in 3 years. I brought some of ...

Trap Placement
I have a dedicated gourd rack with 6 gourds, all having Troyer traps in them. I also have a repeating sparrow trap. How close to the gourd rack would you place the repeating trap? I've always had them about 100 feet apart, but recently moved the 6 gourd traps closer to the house. Thanks

I can't imagine this is right. I tried to search his name to determine how long he's been a land lord, but couldn't find anything.

Visitors, but no takers
Back in early April, I had several martins show interest in my setup. They stayed a few days, left a few days, returned for a few days. For the last 2 weeks, there have been 3-4 show up every day. They fly and circle numerous times, enter and exit gourds, fly around some more. They're here everyday,...

They Came, Stayed, and Left
After 3 years of trying to attract martins to my new location, I finally had 3 show up. One male & female showed a lot of interest in one of the gourds. They spent 4 days in & out of one particular gourd, flying, chattering, etc. Then rain set in for a few days and they have not returned. I ...

Converting Songbird Magnet to Solar
I'm looking for a video or plans on converting the Songbird magnet over to battery or solar. I thought I saw on this forum that someone had done that and stated the information was on the website. I'm not finding any information on how this is done. Please, if someone could please point me in the ri...

Finally Have ASY Looking
***Update to the update*** No sign of the martins for 2-3 days. We've had rain everyday though, so hopefully they will return. I was so excited to finally have them at my new location after 3 years of trying to attract them. I thought since they had been here for 4 days, they'd stay and nest here. *...

Re: Dawnsong vs Song Bird Magnet
Jeff, I left 2 of my poles with gourds and took one pole with the gourds to our new place. So, the new owners do offer housing and they still have martins nesting there. I've gone to their place several times to teach them how to care for them, but they're not interested in sparrow or starling contr...

Dawnsong vs Song Bird Magnet
Trying to attract Martins to a new location. For the last 3 years, I've used both the Dawnsong CD and the Song Bird Magnet (at different times) with no luck. I hosted 56 pair of Purple Martins at our previous home for a number of years. We moved 4 miles down the road and have not seen or heard a sin...
