Great news Steve. It is only a matter of time until the air around yours and Bob's colony will be alive with martins.

Send some south please

In the pic it is like he is saying "I will mess you up". In reality all he had to do was open his talons and leave. We did that and he left. I left out the clawing and scratching he did. After he was released he seemed okay. I was the one shaken up. All arteries are intact. I think..... Sam

The sunset of my martin season ...................PHOTO

http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk228/samfertitta/04-17-08004.jpg Wow, What a year. I almost doubled my martin population. I ended up with 93 nesting pair up from 48 in 2007. I also learn a valuable lesson. With double the size comes double the work, worry and opportunity for predation. I would ...

Great responses............On the electric fences, I know from personal experience that they will light people up if you touch it. Will it at any time get to the birds? I would imagine that ground makes it "hot". True? No affect on birds? I like the idea of electrified poles if I can be su...

Stan, I did not take any pictures. They are super goards that are hanging on the side of posts with shepards hook type brackets. I would estimate a dozen or so to be there. The tide was down when I first saw them and I almost missed them because of there hieght. My group returned about six hours lat...

OH BOY!! WHAT NOW......................

Last year a rat snake and hawks almost ended my season. I had 12 successful hawk attacks. A rat snake got 60 eggs and 5 babies. This year only 5 successful hawks and I've caught two snakes. Success? Oh, I think not. I came home from a short vacation Sunday to find feathers and parts under one of my ...

Stan and Mike,

I was at the Marina at Port Ludlow this weekend and did not see a bird.
I did however see some goards added to some post at the marina.

Any news on the migration in the area.

Steven, I here ya on the early hawks, it was brutal!!!!!!!! My decoys are torn up as well. On the numbers part, I have some single males that are really trying to make life miserable for the others. Fights are fierce for nest sites and females. I hope this subsides soon. Are you having that kind of ...

The totals are: 93 of 116 cavities active, 273 eggs and 29 babies

Last year I had 48 pair so I am indeed blessed this year.

The hawk situation has deffinitely improved in my area. I suppose the migration is over, or slowed dramatically.

I hope every is having a great season.

All I know is that in August of last year it was asolutely beautiful in your part of the country. Seeing those martins made it even better.
