Re: Song bird magnet
Thanks for the replies. My PM house is about 60 feet from my home and no trees are closer than 60 feet from the PM house. Hopefully they'll like the setup and a few will move in this year . I realize it may take a few years to get established though. However, due to the recent devastating hurricanes...

Re: Song bird magnet
I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Why not another $50 after I've already dropped a small fortune on the Trendsetter and accessories. The SBM, at least the newer ones, do have a volume adjustment knob. I am not sure about the quantity of the sound. I read a ton of old posts here about the SBM. Man...

Song bird magnet
I've had an S&K 12 compartment house up for a few years now. I didn't properly manage it and was wiped out by a rat snake last year. After that, I got serious about starting a proper colony. I took down that S&K house and bought another one, but enlarged the compartments, closed off the atti...

Re: Few birds around since hurricane Ida...
Here in Sulphur, the population of the local birds seems the same, but I don't have empirical evidence to back it up. I'm really hoping that the PM population isn't decimated due to the freezes last year.

Early arrival behavior
I've been watching the early arrivals now showing up in Florida. Are these ASYs going straight back to their established colonies? Already starting to build nests? Just passing through? Thanks

Re: House Stuck at top of pole
Thanks. What a nice guy. He strongly refused any type of payment. I still slipped him some money in his truck. I better get some damn birds after what we've been through! Ha. Now. I may have to reattach some Christmas lights tomorrow. It's all good though.

Re: House Stuck at top of pole
After talking to Mel(a great guy by the way), he told me to pull down on the house to get it passed the stop bolt. I saw a guy using a bucket lift hanging Christmas lights down the street and asked for help. He kindly said he would help and came over. It was a 1 man bucket so he went up. He pulled g...

Re: House Stuck at top of pole
Thanks for sharing Brent. I called both yesterday, but haven't heard back from them yet. Maybe off for Thanksgiving? I didn't think about the house possibly free falling, so thanks to all of you who gave me the advice. I wonder if wrapping some blanks above the winch would soften the blow to the hou...

Re: House Stuck at top of pole
Definitely over cranked it. She feels horrible, but I'm not mad. I have the protective covering over the house, so I really can't see the top. The pole is placed over a ground stake, so we can remove it, but I am concerned as with the house at the very top, its very top heavy. Thanks for your input ...

House Stuck at top of pole
I just set up a Trendsetter 16 compartment house on a 16 foot, 3 inch aluminum pole. My wife cranked it to top and it is stuck. The cable looks fine, but the house won't lower. How can we fix this? Thank you.
