Re: Dawn Song question and still wondering where all the subs are :)
well below fifty is a problem because there is little bug activity , I used to have a horn type pa speaker on top of a perch pole...I have seen a sub adult male set and sing back to that horn..lol....I would not play it in the cold...I play the dawn song for a couple hours right now , then shut it d...

Re: Dawn Song question and still wondering where all the subs are :)
From what you are saying , I think you are in pretty good shape...how is your site as far as flyways and trees ?...the hard part of this endeavor seems to me is the predator count , these extremely smart little acrobats know I guess by exploring the area what kind of threat exists, primarily owls...I...

Wow ,
such an awe some sight and pics as well , and all round holes....but a vagrant dirt bird knows better that to show up and get the tar kicked of him. I am curious , did you start with rounds or sreh ?

Re: Gourd rack question
I attracted my first colony with only three gourds. Hang in they're; they will find you! Granted, I live in an area rich with Purple Martins and very poor in housing and people interested in putting up any. Do you have a starling problem? If not, could you try hanging some gourds with round entries...

Re: Mockingbird nest on Martin gourd pole.. Is this a problem?
Gosh I am glad to hear they will tolerate each other , my mocker sits up on top of my rack blowing off everything in his hard drive  I have many bird feeders far away from my rack , but the mocker darts down and chases away some of my good back yard birds even though he is primarily a bugger......
