First Martin is a Female

This morning about 7:15 my husband, Grady, discovered a Martin flying around one of our gourd poles, and we had not put up any gourds. You can't image how fast gourds went up at our place! She arrived about two weeks early and the temperature was 27 degrees. We are hoping for warmer weather.

Its amazing they still fly into and live in cold weather. These birds are very hardy. I'm still waiting on mine to come here to LaPlace, La. Last year, they finally arrived and started taking up residency on Feb. 25th.
