I posted some information a few days ago about a roost in Macon, GA at the Colonial Macon Mall and I wanted to share a few pictures.
I have visited the site twice now- 8/8 and 8/11 and both time were incredible I wish I lived closer (2.5 hour drive)- I would be there everyday! I get goosebumps just thinking about the whole thing.
If you can, please try and visit a roost in your area- I promise it will be worth the effort.
It was sure good to see them- it has been a ghost town here at our site for several weeks now and it will be a long wait for Feb. This was a great "fix" to say the least.
Nicole, you got some great pictures! In the last picture on the right side, it looks like there is an albino martin, unless it is just the lighting. Glad you got to see this roost, and thanks for posting the pictures.
Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.
