Hi all. Earlier in the season I mentioned that I was having a problem lifting one of the martin houses and I believe it was bio-joe that thought that it might be a bend in the post. I noticed after that was suggested that the post was indeed leaning and I believe it might have been done by hurricane Ida. I don’t think it is crucial now but afraid that it might get worse. For those of you who have had this problem how did you straighten it back? The post is 3X3 hollow aluminum and supported by a metal post cemented in the ground. Trendsetter is the housing. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brent

It's really hard to get perspective of how straight it is from a photo but it doesn't seem horrible. I know it sounds the same, but in person does it appear to be leaning or bent? In some loose soil types the entire pole could start to lean after years. If leaning I don't think that would have any impact on the house going up and down. If if there is a slight bend somewhere it doesn't looks severe enough to cause the house to hang up but it's hard to tell. Does it appear to get stuck in the same spot each time or does it just feel tough all the way up?. It seems if it goes smooth and then gets hung in one spot there could be a bend, if it has trouble from top to bottom it would seem like that could be an issue with the pulley or something. My oldest gourd rack (2 inch aluminum AAA) that has started to lean a little the last couple years but it still goes up and down as it did when new.

Aluminum post - let sleeping dogs lie.
Aluminum unlike steel does not do well with bending back.
Like Flyin-Lowe alluded to - unless it's getting hung up during raising or lowering due to the bend, best to leave it alone.

Thanks everyone. I will leave it as is. I think it might just be grime build up on the post. Might just scrub it to see if that helps. No no bend just a slight lean. I feel better after hearing from you all. Thanks again.

My AAA gourd rack appears to be leaning a little. I have been thinking about lifting it off the ground stake in the off season and see if the ground stake is still straight. If it is, I might put the pull back on after rotating it 180 degrees. That way it will be leaning into the wind and maybe help it out that way.

Hello
If there is a bend I don't think its from the base up
But with the bird house on the poll its hard to tell

Suggestion
Take a square And square down From the top of your picture
Later after the house is removed Take another picture And square down from the top
Ihav a pole tat gives me a problem '

The house comes down 2/3 of the pole And hangs up And I haft to shake the house [ Later
