Hi everyone. I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to Joe Siegrist, president, and the PMCA team for the outstanding job they did on the virtual conference titled Conservation Across Continents. Thanks to the many sponsors, too. It was just awesome. To hear from so many researchers and landlords was amazing. To travel to and see Brazil and the indescribable martin roost there was unbelievable. To hear from so many researchers from Brazil and South America was extremely informative. Many researchers and landlords from the states shared so much great information. Martin migration, predator guards, dealing with tragic events like the artic vortex, using Sevin and it goes on and on. I cannot tell you the wealth of information that was shared. You would think that for 2 days from 9 am to about 5 pm you’d be pretty much over it but it was one great topic after another. Don’t let me forget the movie “Purple Haze, A Conservation Film” by Zach Stienhauser. What a great film/documentary. We don’t see it but much, if not all, of the research into these incredible birds is funded or partially funded by PMCA. It’s great to be a part of this outstanding association. Thanks again! Brent

Joe,

My schedule did not allow me to attend the virtual conference this year. If the sessions were recorded, would it be possible to pay the admission fee and have access to view the sessions at my own pace and schedule?

Thanks.

My schedule didn't allow me to attend the virtual conference either, but I would pay to watch the recording as my time permits. Makes me jealous!

Martin Colony History: Taking care of 11 active public colonies and trying to start two more in northwestern PA. Also attempting to restart another one in southwestern PA, in Collier Township's Hilltop Park. In 2017, not sure what happened but the ASY male returned and then a couple of weeks later he was gone. It could have been weather related. No other birds showed up. I had a starling nesting at the Public site that I had trouble getting rid of.
In 2018, we fledged 629 martins at all of the sites.

It was a really good conference. The speakers were great and very informative. It's amazing what the PMCA is doing behind the scenes with all of the scientific studies both here and in Brazil. Thanks to everyone who participated.

Great news, Joe! Thanks!! I'll be sure to donate a bit extra this year during membership renewal to help cover costs incurred with putting on the conference.

Cheers!
