Hello all, Yesterday I took down the trio houses and cleaned them all...and now I'm trying to figure out how to install the PMCA wing entrapment parts I bought earlier this spring. They are the white plastic arch/half circle ones. No directions came with them and although I've been reading old posts about them, I'm still not sure if they go on the inside or outside. It seems that some people use them on the outside to deter starlings? I'm putting them on to hopefully prevent wing entrapment. So.. any advice from all you experts? thanks much,

I think most landlords put them on outside of door, some use two and put one inside, one outside. Inside or outside, the result is the same, a thicker entrance less likely to let a wing get hung up. Others will have suggestions for you here, I'm sure.

Do a quick search for The Lewis Modification, he started crescents on his housing to control starlings and protect against wing entrapment. He put his on the outside. I have some and put them on the inside of a trio mini castle crescent opening, I used aluminum porches as well. As Louise said probably doesn't matter. Some more experienced landlords will have their preferences.
They are quite hard, had to drill the screw holes in the plastic, and drill matching holes in the door. I used a drop of liquid nails too.

I have the wing entrapment plastic arches on my trios. I screwed them on the inside of the crescent openings. You do need to make pilot holes in the plastic. They do not work on the excluder openings. The entrance is to wide. I haven't had any problems since installing these.
If you have enlarged the trio compartments, make sure the inner hole is at least 3 inches in diameter. Since doing this, I've not had any wing problems.

For 2020 I will be offering: 1 Gemini rack with 12 Troyer Horizontal and 12 Troyer Vertical gourds, 1 Multi-Purpose pole with 2 Trio M12K houses with expanded compartments and 4 S&K Bo 11 Plus gourds with clinger tunnels, 1 Multi-Purpose pole with 2 Trio Mini-Castles with expanded compartments and 4 Troyer Vertical Gourds underneath, 1 MPP pole with 2 Trio MSS12 houses with expanded compartments, 3 Super gourds and 1 Excluder gourd underneath, 1 Fountain Gourd rack with 12 Troyer Vertical Gourds, 1 AAA16 rack with 8 Troyer Horizontal and 8 Troyer Vertical gourds, 1 rack with 3 S&K Double Gourds, 1 Trendsetter 16 house with 4 Troyer Vertical Gourds underneath and 1 S&K Barn style house with expanded compartments and 2 gourds underneath. This will be a total of 127 nesting cavities offered for 2020. Hopefully this will help to increase my numbers over 2019 which were 60 active pair that fledged 274 babies.
