Saw something very unique on a gourd yesterday........

a landlord in Jefferson, GA, (Wayne Caudell) has a very uniques feature on some of his gourds. All of his gourds have a 2" round entrance, but one row of them have TWO entrances.....a round hole on opposite sides from each other. He stated that the PM's really loved them, which surprised me. I would normally assume the extra entrance would create problems such as easier entrance/viewing by predators, easier for rain to enter, etc. The rain problem is basically solved by the fact he has large overhanging sheet metal flashing canopies over each entrance.......maybe this experienced landlord is on to something here??????
