My 1st Sy males (2)arrived this morning -both banded at my site last year. Same nest. Bands are 2 numbers apart. Both tried to occupy the cavity they were born in. Unfortunately the compartment is already occupied; one of them settled for second best - the only other available compartment in the house (t14).
4 hours later a banded SY female shows up - one of mine. She seems to have take a liking to one of the males that arrived earlier - they have spent a couple of hours in the vacant cavity.
I fledged approximately 90 birds last season and wonder how many will return . How did 2 siblings arrive at the same time after one year?
