Not really. They are just protecting their babies from mean old me as I put dried mealworms in their little tray. Sorry for the sprinkler noise in the background. You can probably hear the Martins also. Have a good week everyone!

Martin Colony History: Colony started - 2007 with one pair
As of 2018 - 84 cavities offered, max # of pairs hosted - 82.

Jose, those are some very cool trees in the video! I bet your bluebirds enjoy hunting from such high perches! :lol:

Thanks for the video. That is a HUGE snake net trap underneath. They cannot go around that for sure.
2008~(1st yr) 4 pairs, 11 to 12 fledged
2009~(2nd yr) 9 pairs, 41 fledged
2010~(3rd year) 11 pairs. 50 fledged
2011~(4th year) 20 pairs, 23 out of 23 gourds Martin occupied, 3 fledged, the rest died in the drought. (1 new Blue Bird, 3 BB fledged.)
2012~ 26 pairs, approx. 100-110 fledged

You're right Matt. That is a HUGE snake trap. I took it straight out of the package, and once again in a hurry, I didn't even cut it! Looks out of control! lol

Nothing wrong with that Jose. They have to go through it and get stopped if they try for the blue birds. More netting is better then not enough.
A 5 to 6 footer rat or black snake will get stopped tight by that. :grin:

You have Bats, Martins, Blue birds, Swifts and a great eye for taking pictures.
