The colony starter--our second year male PM showed up on wednesday, as first reported by my neighbor, and had an adult female in tow! Could she be last year's gal? The other 2-3 subbie males from last year have not shown up.

Of course, I just opened the gourds up on monday, after TS eggs were found. I do believe that the PM's just now showed up, this is about 3 weeks later than the earliest ASY's in our area!. The data shows 2nd year birds are on average, 10-12 days later than the older scouts.
Anyway, relieved to see that we DO have an adult PM looking rather dapper, aggressive and attentive-with a female, following him into the gourd, vocalizing, telling him where to put the new nest stick--I notice that like humans, the female gets very vocal when the new furniture arrives!
I hope they recruit some more, I will keep Dawnsong on for now.

That is good news JK. I hope you get more martins this year and have a great year.
